First and only label to date dedicated to Cuban « extreme music », the main activity of BRUTAL BEATDOWN RECORDS, a label 100% independent entirely managed from Havana, is to promote Cuban hardcore and metal music, and to make it a major player and ambassador on the international scene as well as in Cuba itself.
 
« Not salsa, just brutal music: Cuba’s hardest » is BRUTAL BEATDOWN RECORDS first production. Recorded and mixed in Havana in March to Dicember 2007, this disc marks the first step of the Cuban underground scene on the world stage. We have try to make this sample as representative as possible of today’s Cuban metal scene and for many of us, something more, a bridge. In an insular field where very few hands and ears seek out extreme music and where the more traditional and tropical types of music such as salsa and reggaeton are predominant and preferred, the voice of the Cuban underground is an unrecognised creativity which has remained until today stifled by an almost systematic wall of indifference. The best means of passing through this wall is to go around it; this disc is therefore a bridge towards an independent musical scene.
